要約:Beyond an accounting view of public swimming pools, which are often in deficit, this article focuses on their sporting, social and political usefulness. As well as preventing drowning and enabling competitive swimming, they provide a space for leisure and socializing, and are indispensable islands of coolness in times of global warming. At the same time, public swimming pools consume a lot of energy and water and are therefore at the heart of discussions on how to reorient municipal sports facilities in times of climate crisis. Reclaiming natural aquatic areas as part of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games (JOP) is a promise included in the capital’s candidacy and offers a horizon towards which to strive.
