The authors draw on the concept of splitting in S. Freud, G. Bayle, M. Klein and J. Bleger to analyse the causes and consequences of the Manichean thinking that dominates the socio-political and media spheres. They illustrate their points with examples drawn from the press, culture and everyday life. They also consider the role and responsibility of analysts in the face of this trend, and how to preserve humanist thought, knowledge and values.Ce texte propose une réflexion psychanalytique sur les phénomènes de polarisation qui caractérisent le monde contemporain. Les auteures s’appuient sur le concept de clivage chez S. Freud, G. Bayle, M. Klein et sur celui d’ambiguïté chez J. Bleger pour analyser les causes et les conséquences de la pensée manichéenne qui domine le champ sociopolitique et médiatique. Elles illustrent leurs propos avec des exemples tirés de la presse, de la culture et de la vie quotidienne.
