However, the contemporary period (from 1789 to the present day) corresponds to recent archaeological research requiring the implementation of a reflection with regard, in particular, to the recording of data within the national archaeological map and its application Patriarche. These vestiges, often victims of ignorance, looting or erosion of the coastline for coastal fortifications (eg Atlantic Wall) can be considered, for some, as vulnerable and must be precisely located on a map and described in order to be better identified, protected and preserved and increase our knowledge. These data are essential in particular to be able to bring them to the attention in the context of requests for informations but also to be taken into account in the archaeological prescriptions during land development and thus allow the various stakeholders in the field to have a enlightened approach adapted to this type of vestiges, the dangerousness of which must also be taken into account.Depuis plusieurs années les vestiges des conflits contemporains sont abordés dans le cadre de la recherche archéologique au même titre que l’ensemble des vestiges correspondants aux périodes préhistoriques et historiques. Cependant la période contemporaine (1789 à nos jours) correspond à une recherche archéologique récente nécessitant la mise en place d’une réflexion en ce qui concerne notamment l’enregistrement des données au sein de la carte archéologique nationale et son application Patriarche. Ces vestiges, bien souvent victimes d’une méconnaissance, de pillages ou de l’érosion du littoral pour les fortifications côtières (ex : Mur de l’Atlantique), peuvent être considérés pour certains comme vulnérables et doivent être localisés précisément sur une carte et décrits afin de mieux les identifier, les protéger, les conserver et les connaître. Ces données sont indispensables notamment pour pouvoir les porter à la connaissance dans le cadre de demande d’informations mais aussi pour être prises en compte dans les prescriptions archéologiques lors d’aménagements du territoire et ainsi permettre aux différents intervenants sur le terrain d’avoir une approche éclairée et adaptée à ce type de vestiges dont la dangerosité doit être aussi intégrée.Cairn free access
