Rather than focusing on the negative characteristics of piracy, as others do, the author highlights its creative aspects: the fact that it has resulted in the birth of a new industry based on novel forms of reproduction and distribution and, ultimately, has given rise to wholly legitimate media forms. The author also considers the impact of technology breakdown (blurred images, distorted sound) on audience reception of these forms.Cairn free access |
