Based on a qualitative analysis of case studies from several sectors, the study explores how companies give meaning to CSR in their day-to-day practices. The analysis reveals a hybrid model organized around three structuring vectors : modernization (via the integration of sustainability and stakeholders), voluntarism (driven by business ethics and civic commitments), and state supervision (through standards, prohibitions and public mechanisms). These vectors reconfigure classic CSR frameworks (social, societal, economic, environmental) by adapting them to Benin’s institutional, economic, and cultural realities. The study concludes that CSR in Benin is neither a simple transposition of international standards, nor a strictly formal construction. It takes the form of a contextual, evolving, and partly informal process, at the intersection of local initiatives, regulatory constraints, and societal dynamics. Cairn restricted access |
