Certains pourraient le déplorer, estimant que l'objectif de paix à l'origine de la construction européenne s'accommode difficilement d'une circulation des chars dans l'Union. Et pourtant, la circulation libre d'un char allemand sur le territoire français, sans que l'existence d'un acte de guerre effleure l'esprit des populations, ne serait-elle pas un puissant symbole de paix ?While there is thus far no military union within the European Union, in recent years there has been a growing EU interest in the military. And the current geopolitical context seems likely to reinforce this trend. Some would argue a military union goes fundamentally against the peace promotion rationale that lies at the foundation of the European Union.
