On its plinth we can read a Greek dedication of Nikon of Anazarbos (Cilicia), bearing a common Greek name, to the river-god Pyramos, who is favourable to the businessmen and to the naukleroi. This sculpture from the iind century A.D. has to be connected with the trade undertaken by the naukleroi in Cilicia, the wheat/corn supply and the Roman military annona, particularly at the times of the Parthian war of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus (161-166 A.D.).Cairn free access
