If this agricultural and food power could be challenged by the European Union in the years 2000-2010, the war in Ukraine is a manifestation of a broader challenge to this power. Since then, Russia has established itself as a leading agricultural power, while the US has had recurring trade deficits. This article looks back at a war that has brought to light the agricultural rivalries between the Western bloc and Russia. The balance of power in world capitalism also involves the issue of agriculture and food.Le pouvoir hégémonique dont s’étaient dotés les États-Unis après la guerre s’est aussi étendu sur le plan agricole et alimentaire. Il s’agit d’un domaine souvent négligé quand on aborde le cycle hégémonique structuré autour de la puissance américaine. Si ce pouvoir agricole et alimentaire a pu être contesté par l’Union européenne au tournant des années 2000-2010, la guerre en Ukraine est la manifestation d’une contestation plus large de ce pouvoir. Depuis cette époque, la Russie s’affirme comme une puissance agricole de premier rang, tandis que les États-Unis affichent des déficits commerciaux récurrents. Cet article revient sur une guerre qui a mis au grand jour les rivalités agricoles entre le bloc occidental et la Russie.
