| 520 | |a Main description: Die drei ersten Bücher der Conica befassen sich mit den Grundlagen der Theorie der Kegelschnitte, bevor sich Apollonius in den folgenden Bu chern Einzelproblemen zuwendet. Diese drei Bücher waren bis vor kurzem nur in der Textfassung durch Eutocius bekannt. Man wusste allerdings, dass sie Teil einer arabischen Übersetzung einer von Eutocius Textfassung unabhängigen griechischen Vorlage waren. Eine genaue Betrachtung des arabischen Textes der Bücher 2 und 3 führt zum selben Ergebnis, das im Rahmen dieser Neuedition bereits für das erste Buch erwiesen wurde: diese griechische Vorlage bietet einen besseren und sichereren Text. Der vorliegende Band bietet die kritische Erstedition des arabischen Textes, seine erste Übersetzung in eine moderne Sprache und einen detaillierten historischen und mathematischen Kommentar. Nun vollständige Erstedition des Buchs von Apollonius Erstübersetzung desarabischen Textes in französischer Sprache Ausführlicher historischer und mathematischer Kommentar Einflussreicher Text über die Theorie der Kegelschnitte Herausgeber ist ausgewiesener Spezialist. | ||
| 520 | |a Main description: The first three books of the Conica deals with the basic elements of the theory of conical sections, before Apollonius turns to particular problems in the following books. Until recently these three books were only known from Eutocius text. However, they were known to be part of an Arabic translation of a Greek version independent of Eutocius text. A close study of the Arabic texts of books 2 and 3 leads to the same conclusion as that which, as a result of the new edition, was reached for the first book: that the Greek version provides a better and sounder text. This volume provides a first critical edition of the Arabic text, the first translation of it into a modern language and a detailed historical and mathematical commentary. | ||
