520 |a Part I : The first chapter recalls the properties of the equilibrium under adverse selection, and secondly, under moral hazard. In chapters 2 and 3, we consider both adverse selection and moral hazard. In chapter 2, agents differ with respect to their cost of self-protection, whereas they also differ with respect to their performance in the reduction of the probability of accident in chapter 3. In both chapters, we show that the equilibrium has the same properties as in Rothschild and Stiglitz's paper (1976), although it may take three forms in chapter 2. In chapter 3, we show that adverse selection reduces the less risky agent's coverage, increasing likewise his preventive action with respect to the hidden action situation. Part II : The fourth chapter is devoted to the economic analysis of accident law. Lastly, in chapter 5, we show that a judgement-proof firm may take an optimal level of prevention. A financial responsibility, may implement the social optimum in some cases.
